Opposition hits Syria’s Qardaha with shells
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Sunday, armed opposition groups bombed positions of the Syrian government forces in the countryside of Latakia, for the first time for a year.
The al-Qaeda-backed Ansar al-Tawhid armed group targeted Syrian government forces’ sites in al-Qardaha region, north of Latakia, with home-made high explosive missiles, military forces of the opposition told North Press.
Pro-government local social media reported the fall of shells and missiles on the villages in al-Qardaha countryside, without talking about any casualties or material damage.
Since early this month, the countryside of Idlib, Hama, Aleppo and Latakia have witnessed mutual military escalation between the government forces and Turkish-backed opposition groups.
Meanwhile, the Syrian government forces continued their artillery shelling and missile bombardment on the villages and towns of Zawiya Mountain region, targeting Kansafra, al-Fatira, Kafr Oweid and Sufuhn, south of Idlib.
