Government forces shell opposition positions in Syria’s Idlib
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Sunday, Syrian government forces renewed their artillery and missile shelling on Turkish-backed armed opposition groups’ positions in the southern countryside of Idlib, northwest Syria.
The government forces targeted the villages of al-Fatira, Kafr Oweid, Harsh, Benin and Kansafra in Zawiya Mountain region, south of Idlib with missiles and artillery shells, military sources of the opposition told North Press.
The shelling left great material damage to public and private property without reports on casualties, the sources added.
The shelling coincided with an intense flight of Russian drones.
Since the beginning of June, the countryside of Idlib, Hama, Aleppo and Latakia have been witnessing mutual shelling between government forces and opposition groups which resulted in the killing of more than 30 civilians and the injury of more than 70, according to Civil Defense (White helmets).
