Russian military police conduct patrol in Syria’s Tel Tamr
TEL TAMR, Syria (North Press) – On Saturday, Russian military police conducted a military patrol in Tel Tamr, north of Hasakah, northeast Syria.
On Saturday, the Russian patrol exited from their military base in al-Mabaqer station, north of Tel Tamr, and headed to the west on the M4 Highway, a North Press correspondent reported.
The patrol consisted of two military armored vehicles without an aerial cover.
The correspondent cited a military source who said that they expect the patrol to roam the frontlines between the Syrian government and Turkish forces and Turkish-backed armed groups west of the town.
Turkish-backed armed groups regularly target populated areas on the frontlines in the countryside of Tel Tamr with shells and live bullets, causing unrest and fear.
Since the signing of a memorandum of understanding in the Russian city Sochi on 22 October 2019 by the Russian and Turkish presidents during the 2019 Turkish offensive on Sere Kaniye and Tel Abyad, Russian forces have been stationed in areas northeast Syria as a guarantor for the ceasefire.
This Russian patrol came two days after a Russian-Turkish joint patrol in border villages in the countryside of Derbasiya, north Hasakah.
