Casualties in government bombing on opposition areas in Syria’s Idlib
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Eight people were killed and others were wounded Thursday by intense artillery and air strikes of the Syrian government forces on separate villages and towns of Zawiya Mountain in the southern countryside of Idlib.
Military sources in the opposition told North Press that the government forces bombed the positions of opposition groups in the villages and towns of Iblin, Ahsem, Kafr Aweid, Sufuhn, al-Fateira, al-Bara, south of Idlib, with artillery shells and rockets.
The bombardment affected the towns of San, Majdalaya, al-Kinda, east and west of Idlib.
The bombing killed eight people, including a child, and injured 11 others in the town of Iblin in Zawiya Mountain area, south of Idlib, according to the sources.
Local sources told North Press that a large displacement movement witnessed in the Zawiya Mountain area, as a result of the unprecedented military escalation by government forces, amid rumors of an upcoming military operation.
The government forces stationed at the surrounding checkpoints targeted the fortifications of the Turkish-backed armed opposition groups on the areas of Kabana, Ain Issa, Salour, Kinda, Al Khader, Barzeh, north of Latakia with mortars and rockets.
Warplanes bombarded the groups’ positions in the towns of al-Fateira, al-Mozara, al-Haluba, south of Idlib, and the village of Majdlaya, east of the city, without reporting any casualties.
Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room, which includes Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and other armed groups, targeted military gatherings of government forces on Zawiya Mountain areas in the southern Idlib countryside.
Turkish forces targeted military positions of the government forces in the city of Saraqeb in the eastern Idlib countryside, with artillery shells, according to the same sources.
