Explosion leaves casualties among Russian forces in Syria’ Sere Kaniye

TEL TAMR, Syria (North Press) – A soldier from the Russian Military Police was killed and three others were wounded in a mine explosion near a military vehicle south of Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain), northeast Syria.

The explosion took place in the village of al-Asadiya in the Abu Rasin district, on the line of contact between Turkish-backed armed factions, Syrian government points, and the Tel Tamr Military Council.

Russian forces occasionally conduct separate military patrols from or alongside with the Turkish forces in the area.

One soldier was killed while three others were lightly wounded, and are in stable condition after being transferred to a hospital in Derbasiya, military sources from the area said.

According to the sources, the body of the deceased and the wounded were taken to Qamishli Airport, which is the main stationing point for Russian forces operating in the area.

The Russian military police conducted a joint patrol with Turkish forces in the western countryside of Kobani, last Monday.
