Syria’s AANES appeals to US, EU for security and economic support
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) called on the representatives of the US, 12 European countries, and committees of the EU to form a court to bring ISIS fighters to justice and compensate the victims of terrorism, in addition to providing economic and security support to the AANES.
On Tuesday, the AANES Foreign Affairs Department revealed on its official account on Facebook the details of the meeting that was held on Thursday between representatives of the AANES, representatives of a number of the European countries and the US Secretary of State.
The department mentioned that the meeting was held virtually and discussions were held regarding a number of critical issues, the most important of which were the security and economic situation in the region, in addition to the issue of ISIS and their families in the camps, especially Hawl Camp.
The AANES has clearly and explicitly demanded those countries repatriate their female and minor citizens who have not committed crimes in northeast Syria.
Representatives of the US Department of State, the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Sweden, Germany, France, the UK, Switzerland, Finland, Belgium, Denmark, the Netherlands, Italy, Canada, and Norway participated in the meeting.
In addition to the EU Council, the European External Action Service (EEAS), Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (DG ECHO) and the Directorate-General for Migration and Home Affairs (DG HOME).
From the AANES, Deputy co-chair of the Executive Council Badran Chiya Kurd, co-chair of the Foreign Affairs Department Abdulkarim Omar, AANES’s representative in Europe Abdulsalam Mustafa, and AANES’s representative in the Scandinavian countries Shiyar Ali participated in the meeting.
