Turkish reinforcements enter Syria’s Idlib
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Monday evening, Turkish forces sent new military reinforcements to their observation points in Idlib, northwest Syria.
“A Turkish military convoy consisting of several military vehicles entered the Syrian territory through Kafr Losin border crossing, and headed to the Turkish points in Zawiya Mountain, south of Idlib,” local sources told North Press.
The Turkish convoy included “armored vehicles and trucks carrying ammunition and logistical materials, in addition to dozens of fighters,” the sources added.
The Turkish forces have continued to send more military reinforcements to Idlib since the beginning of this year, coinciding with the military escalation between the Syrian government forces and Turkish-backed armed groups.
Since its military intervention in Syria, Turkey has established more than 70 military points in the regions of Idlib, Aleppo, Hama and Latakia northwest Syria.
Press reports talk about the presence of approximately 13,000 Turkish soldiers and 9,000 military vehicles in northwest Syria.
