Shelling between government, Turkish-backed armed groups renews in Syria’s northwest
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Thecountryside of both Idlib and Latakia within the de-escalation zone, northwest Syria, witnessed the renewal of mutual shelling between Syrian government forces and Turkish-backed armed groups amidst intensive flight by Russian warplanes over the area, on Thursday.
Government forces targeted the vicinity of the village of Eshtabraq, west Idlib, where Turkish forces are stationed, with heavy artillery shells and rockets, military sources from the armed groups told North Press.
Meanwhile, government forces targeted posts of the armed groups in the town of al-Fatirah and on the vicinities of the towns of Sufuhon, Kafar Aweed, and the village of al-Halobah in Zawiya Mountain with mortars reporting no human casualties.
Meanwhile, the government forces shelled from their posts on the armed groups’ posts in al-Kabinah hills in Jabal al-Akrad and targeted Shenber Citadel in Turkmen Mountain, north Latakia, according to the same sources.
Meanwhile, groups belonging to Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room responded to the shelling by targeting the government posts in the village of Kafar Battikh, east Idlib, a military source from al-Fateh al-Mubin told North Press.
