Fire destroys wheat crop in Syria’s Kobani

KOBANI, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday, a fire broke out in a wheat-grown land in the bordering village of al-Ziyarah, 30 km west of Kobani. 

The Turkish side was the cause of the fire, which led to the burning of 50 acres of rain-fed wheat crop, in addition to burning harvested lands, co-chair of the Municipality of al-Qanaya, west of Kobani, Ali Miho, said.

Miho added that the fire brigade of the municipality al-Qanaya and Beindar managed to put the fire out with the help of villagers’ tractors.

This is the first fire in this crop season for lands not being harvested in Kobani and its countryside.
