QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The United States strongly condemns President Erdogan’s recent anti-Semitic comments regarding the Jewish people and finds them reprehensible, Ned Price, the US State Department spokesman, said on Tuesday.
On May 17, the Turkish president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, had called for solid action against Israel and criticized the US president, Joe Biden’s approval of weapons sales to Israel.
“We urge President Erdogan and other Turkish leaders to refrain from incendiary remarks, which could incite further violence,” Price added.
“We call on Turkey to join the United States in working to end the conflict,” he noted.
The American official pointed out that “Anti-Semitic language has no place anywhere.”
The United States is deeply committed to combatting anti-Semitism in all of its forms, according to Price.
In turn, Fahrettin Altun, head of media and communications in the Turkish presidency, said, those who do not have the courage and the decency to condemn infanticide, have no moral position to lecture anyone.
