Concession among Kurds better than with regional, international powers: Academic in KRG

ERBIL, KRG, Iraq (North Press) – “Concession between the Kurdish parties in Syria is easier, safer, and more strategic than to regional and international parties,” Dean of the School of Social Sciences at the University of Kurdistan Hawler (UKH) Bayar Mustafa Sevdeen said on Wednesday.

The visit of Acting Assistant Secretary of State Joey Hood to Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRG) and Syria’s northeast (Rojava) “is a clear message that the US called on their local and regional allies to be essential supporters and active members in northeast Syria (Rojava),” Mustafa added.

“KRG leaders have to understand the message before other non-Kurds,” the academic stated.

He mentioned the challenges northeast Syria is facing, saying, “The danger is great, but still there is a chance.”

Sevdeen pointed out that US new administration has adopted a different style of rapprochement regarding the Kurdish issue in Syria.

“Remember that US commitment is moral and humanitarian one, rather than political and strategic,” he elaborated.
