Turkish forces conduct unilateral patrol in Syria’s northwest

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday, the Turkish forces conducted a unilateral military patrol on the M4 Highway, south of Idlib, amid a great mobilization among the Turkish troops and their points.

Field sources told north Press that Turkish vehicles headed alone on the M4 Highway from al-Tarnabah, reaching Ain al-Hour area, north of Latakia.

The Turkish forces intensively deployed along the road, before crossing it completely, amid intensive flight of Turkish drones over the region, the sources added.

The Turkish patrol coincided with artillery and missile shelling of the Syrian government forces near the Zawiya Mountain area, south of Idlib, according to the same sources.

The Turkish forces had begun establishing military points in northwest Syria since October 2017 after reaching an agreement with Russia to establish a de-escalation zone.

Idlib and parts of the countryside of Hama, Aleppo and Latakia are included in an agreement between Moscow and Ankara to stop military operations in the fourth de-escalation zone.
