Asayish arrest 14 ISIS members in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press)-On Tuesday, special units of the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) arrested fourteen ISIS members in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, east Syria, with Global Coalition air support.
The SDF arrested fourteen ISIS elements during a raid campaign to pursue ISIS cells in the town of Shuhail, 40 km east of Deir ez-Zor, military source told North Press.
The campaign resulted in the arrest of an ISIS member on the outskirts of the Shabaka neighborhood, and two other members in a deserted house near a mosque in the town, the sources added.
The source indicated that the wanted members were responsible for several assassinations and bombings that had taken place in the area recently.
The forces seized weapons and equipment that the wanted men had, according to the source.
Recently, the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor has witnessed a remarkable increase of ISIS members, despite the security restrictions launched by the Syrian Democratic Forces.
The Syrian Democratic Forces occasionally launch security operations to pursue the militant organization’s cells in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.
Two days ago, through media close to it, ISIS claimed the bombing of a building that the SDF had previously used as headquarters for its members in the town of Tal Daman, north of Deir ez-Zor.
