IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Saturday, Syrian government forces targeted the sites of the opposition groups in the countryside of Idlib and Latakia, northwest Syria, with artillery and missile strikes.
Speaking to North Press, military sources in the opposition said that government forces targeted al-Tuffahiyyah area in Jabal al-Akrad, north of Latakia, from their positions in the surrounding checkpoints, with heavy artillery shells and rocket launchers.
In Idlib, military sources in the opposition told North Press that the government forces continue to bombard the towns of al-Fatira and Kafr Oweid in Zawiya Mountain region, south of Idlib.
The government forces intensified their shelling of the area in response to an operation carried out by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (formerly al-Nusra Front) on the government sites near al-Malaja village, south of Idlib, Friday, which resulted in the killing and wounding of more than 10 members, the sources reported.

The bombing coincided with intense flight of Russian warplanes and reconnaissance aircraft over Idlib, Hama and Latakia, according to the same sources.
