Hayat Tahrir al-Sham arrests media activist, brother in Syria’s northwest

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Friday, security forces affiliated with Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS)’s civil wing the Syrian Salvation Government arrested a media activist and his brother in the city of Idlib, northwest Syria, as a result of a quarrel that activists said was fabricated by HTS militants.

HTS forces arrested media activist Muhammad Na’san Dibl and his brother in the city center of Darkush, northwest Idlib, local sources stated.

The militants insulted them before they were arrested, without explaining the reasons and for the arrest, the sources added.

HTS restricts press work in its areas of control, and frequently arrests journalists and media activists for reasons related to freedom of opinion and criticism of their practices, according to the same sources.

On Tuesday, the Syrian Salvation Government summoned a journalist working in Idlib for publishing a photo documenting his assault by HTS militants, and they threatened him to prevent him from practicing the profession in their areas of control.
