Syrian opposition starts corona vaccine campaign in its areas

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – For the sixth consecutive day, the Syria Vaccine team, in partnership with the health directorates in Idlib, continues the campaign of vaccination against coronavirus in the opposition-held areas of Idlib and Aleppo.

The number of people vaccinated by Wednesday reached 3,423, the Syria Vaccine team said in a statement posted on Facebook.

2,471 people in Idlib and 952 in Aleppo have been vaccinated, and the campaign, which began at the beginning of May, will continue until all medical personnel are vaccinated and the vaccines run out, according to the statement.

According to the team, vaccination campaigns against coronavirus are continuing in hospitals and medical centers, as they are the on the front line of this epidemic.

The northwest regions of Syria received the vaccines through the WHO’s COVAX program. 53,800 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine produced by the Indian Serum Institute were delivered to the region via Bab al-Hawa border crossing with Turkey on April 21.

Since the outbreak of the epidemic, the Syrian opposition’s Interim Government has announced 22,090 infections, including 655 deaths and 20,099 recoveries.
