70 coronavirus infections in Syrian government-held areas
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday, the media office of the Ministry of Health of the Syrian government recorded 70 new coronavirus infections and 8 deaths in its areas of control.
The government’s media office stated on its Facebook account that the new deaths were three in Damascus, two in Homs, and one in each Suwayda, Tartous, and Deir ez-Zor.
Meanwhile, the media office announced the recording of 196 new recoveries.
During the last wave of coronavirus, the Syrian government did not announce any lockdown periods to limit the spread of the virus, and was just content with ending the academic year for schools and a temporary suspension of university attendance.
The new cases were 23 in Aleppo, 15 in Latakia, and 13 in Damascus.
Meanwhile, other infections were eight in each in Homs and Daraa, and three in Qunaitra.
The total toll of the infections in the government-held areas has come up to 23,121, including 1,625 deaths and 17,725 recoveries.
