Unidentified persons shot police officers in Syria’s Daraa

DARAA, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday, two policemen were injured after unknown gunmen targeted a military police vehicle in the city of Da’el, in Daraa countryside, southern Syria, activists said.

The attackers used automatic weapons and fired at the car, wounding two officers, who were transferred to the National Hospital in the city of Daraa al-Mahattah, local sources said.

After the incident, the city of Da’el witnessed a security alert by the Air Force Intelligence, which controls the city and has checkpoints deployed there.

Local sources reported that sounds of gunfire were heard in coincidence with the deployment of Air Force Intelligence patrols that raided a number of houses, amid the closure of all shops, and the complete paralysis of the movement of people in the streets.

A security source stated that the security forces arrested four people accused of carrying out the attack.

Yesterday, the Air Force Intelligence arrested eight citizens carrying settlement cards in the city of Sheikh Meskin in the northern countryside of Daraa.

Dozens of members of the Syrian Air Force Intelligence came to the city, roamed the streets, raided a number of civilians’ houses, and arrested some, a local source said.
