SDF raids crossing to smuggle diesel into Syrian government areas

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) raided one of the oil crossings on the Euphrates River, with the Syrian government-held areas, in the town of al-Shuhail, in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.

The SDF seized two trucks smuggling diesel to the Syrian government areas, a local source told North Press.

“The SDF raided the crossing after receiving reports of several cars carrying diesel heading towards al-Shabaka crossing, in the town of al-Shuhail,” the source added.

The source indicated that it is not the first time that the diesel has been smuggled at night to the Syrian government-held areas.

It is worth mentioning that smuggling oil is active in the Syrian government-controlled areas, due to the large difference in prices between the SDF areas and the government ones.
