ERBIL, Iraq (North Press) – On Tuesday, the Minister of Health in the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq (KRG), Saman Barzanji, said that they asked help from the Iraqi Ministry of Health and UN agencies to secure coronavirus vaccines for the displaced and refugee camps in Kurdistan Region.
Responding to North Press question, Barzanji said: “Discussions are ongoing, but vaccine allocations and vaccination centres are limited.”
According to Barzanji, 28% of the region’s population lives IDP and refugee camps.
The minister did not specify the period or mechanism for vaccines to arrive in the camps, indicating that they are in constant contact to secure them.
The Minister’s statement came during a press conference held in Erbil, on the occasion of the opening of two new laboratories for free examination for coronavirus suspects.
