Assassinations increase in Syria’s Daraa

DARAA, Syria (North Press) – The eastern countryside of Daraa, southern Syria, has witnessed an increase in the assassinations, especially on the road between the towns of Umm al-Mayathin and al-Na’ima, the last of which was against a member of the Firefighting Department of Daraa.

Unidentified gunmen shot Mohsen al-Mehamid, member of Firefighting Brigade, to death while going work in the morning, on Umm al-Mayathin and al-Na’ima road, in the eastern countryside of Daraa, local sources told North Press.

The previous period has witnessed 6 assassinations on the same road, including military figures and civilians, even though there are three government forces’ checkpoints,  the sources added.

The government forces set up a military checkpoint on the road after taking control of Daraa in 2018, to set up another one on the same road after two of their members were targeted there.
