Syria’s Derik municipality starts cleaning campaign to curb Covid-19

DERIK, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday, the People’s Municipality in the city of Derik, northeast Syria, started a campaign of cleaning and rinsing the market of vegetables and meat in Derik to reduce the outbreak of coronavirus.

“We started a cleaning campaign in the market of vegetables and meat, as it witnesses a large gathering of residents every day,” Redwan Omar, head of the Health Committee of the People’s Municipality in Derik, told North Press.

After that, it is supposed to start cleaning the large market and the institutions of the Autonomous Administration in the city, Omar added. 

He pointed out that as soon as the cleaning campaign finishes, they will start a sterilization campaign in the city through sprinklers.

On Wednesday, Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) imposed a partial curfew in its areas of control starting on Friday April 23 until April 29.

The partial lockdown is accompanied by another complete one in areas of Jazira and Tabqa.
