SDF launch security campaign against ISIS in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor countryside

HASASKAH, Syria (North Press) –  On Wednesday, a military source from the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said that SDF special forces, with aerial and ground support from the Global Coalition, launched a security campaign to pursue Islamic State (ISIS) sleeper cells in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor.

The source added that the campaign is mainly taking in Wadi al-Ajij in the northern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.

“The campaign is an anti-terrorism operation and to prevent ISIS sleeper cells activities from undermining security and stability efforts in the area,” the source pointed out.

Meanwhile, ISIS sleeper cells’ activities have increased in the area, targeting tribal figures, SDF members, and employees in the civil administration in Deir ez-Zor.
