Autonomous Administration imposes complete lockdown in all northeast Syria’s regions
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Sunday, the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) imposed complete lockdown in all of the areas it controls in northeast Syria to ward off the danger posed by coronavirus.
According to the decision issued by the AANES, the lockdown will take effect on Tuesday, April 13 until Thursday, April 22 in all the AANES-held areas.
During the lockdown, all food and vegetable stores will open from 8:00 am to 5:pm.
All hospitals, pharmacies, bakeries, oil stations, humanitarian organizations and journalists are excluded from the lockdown, according to the decision.
During the lockdown, all crossings will be closed except for humanitarian cases, trade activities and students.
On April 6, the AANES imposed a complete lockdown in the cities of Qamishli, Hasakah and Raqqa, in addition to partial curfew in the other cities and regions.
On April 9, the Crisis Management Cell in the Euphrates region announced the imposition of a complete lockdown on the region for 10 days, in order to limit the spread of coronavirus.
The Euphrates region is a geographical division used by the Autonomous Administration, and it refers to the areas of Raqqa, Kobani, Tabqa, and Tel Abyad, north Syria.
The AANES has formed the Crisis Management Cell since the start of the spread of coronavirus in the area earlier in 2020.
Today, the AANES Health Board announced the recording of three deaths and 298 new cases of coronavirus in northeast Syria.
With the announcement of these new cases, the number of people infected with coronavirus in the regions of northeast Syria has risen to 12,236 confirmed cases, including 422 deaths and 1,365 cases of recovery.
