ISIS leaders arrested during security campaign in Syria’s Hawl
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday, the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) announced that it had arrested the Sharia judge of ISIS, known as Abu Muhammad al-Jamili, in Hawl Camp, northeast Syria.
“Al-Jamili, born in the Iraqi city of al-Anbar in 1959, used to be a member of al-Qaeda in Iraq before joining ISIS and working as Amir in Hawl Camp,” the Asayish said.
Also, Asayish forces managed to arrest two Iraqi ISIS members, Mustafa al-Khalaf, a communication expert, and Ali al-Kheleif, a security member of ISIS.
Earlier on Wednesday, Ali Al-Hassan, Asayish spokesman, told North Press that the number of the arrested people in Hawl Camp has risen to 70.
“Two ISIS leaders, who were responsible for sleeper cells in the camp, were among the detainees,” he added.
On March 28, the Asayish along with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) supported by Counter-terrorism Forces and rapid Deployment Forces launched a security campaign inside the camp.
The security operation was entitled the “Humanity and Security Campaign,” with the aim of reducing the danger of ISIS sleeper cells, which have killed 47 people since the beginning of this year.
