Refugees in KRG send presents to relatives in Syria for Newroz

ERBIL, KRG, Iraq (North Press) – In March, Syrian refugees in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRG) have sent more than 40 tons of presents to their relatives in Syria’s northeast areas on the occasion of Newroz.

Reports state that Syrian refugees in KRG send more than two million US dollars per month in remittances to their relatives in different areas of northeast Syria.

An administrator in a freight company which ships goods from KRG to northeast Syria, Basel Rasol, said that their company sent more than ten tons during the last week.

Meanwhile, five freight companies which have offices in camps and different cities in KRG transfer goods to Syrian territory through Semalka crossing.

“Most of the goods include Kurdish clothes for both women and men,” Rasol told North Press.

“Between 1000 and 1500 people of different classes headed to our company’s branches; some people sent small quantities and some who sent large quantities,” he added.
