Turkey calls on Russia to stop Syrian government attacks in Turkish-held areas

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Monday, the Turkish Ministry of Defense asked Russia to prevent Syrian government forces from targeting areas held by Turkish forces in northwestern Syria.

The ministry announced in a statement that Syrian government forces targeted populated areas in Jarabulus and al-Bab in the countryside of Aleppo with missile strikes, resulting in casualties.

The statement stressed the need for Russia to prevent these attacks, adding that the Turkish Defense Ministry has informed its forces in the region to take all measures.

On Sunday, Alhomran area in the southwestern countryside of Jarabulus was targeted by missile strikes, and was believed to be from the government forces stationed at Kuweires Military Airport.

The shelling coincided with the fall of missiles on primitive oil refineries in the Tarhin area, east of the city of al-Bab.

The Turkish base stationed in Jabal Aqeel, in the vicinity of the city of al-Bab, responded to the bombing, targeting government forces’ sites in the towns of Nubl, Zahra, and Tadif, east of Aleppo.
