Government forces intensify shelling opposition posts in Syria’s northwest
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Saturday, the Syrian government forces intensified its bombardment on the fortifications of the Turkish-backed armed opposition groups in the de-escalation zone.
A military source told North Press that the government forces bombed the posts of the opposition groups with artillery shells and rockets in the towns of al-Mashik, al-Ziyara, and Tal Wasat in the Ghab Plain in the western countryside of Hama.
The government forces targeted the fortifications of the opposition groups with surface-to-surface missiles in the regions of Kafridin al-Qarqus and the Kabbana hills in the Jabal al-Akrad area, in the northern countryside of Lattakia.
The source added that the shelling coincided with intensified flight of the helicopters and warplanes over the area, without any causalities reported.
The areas of northwest Syria are included in the ceasefire agreement signed by Turkey and Russia in March, 2020 after a military campaign in the region.
