IDLIB, Syria (north Press) – On Tuesday, the Turkish gendarmerie shot a civilian to death in north Idlib, northwest Syria, while trying to cross the border to the Turkish territory.
“Murhaf al-Khaled was killed while he was trying to enter the Turkish territory near Harem region, on the Syrian-Turkish border,” local sources told North press.
“Al-Khaled came from the village of al-Rasafa in Idlib’s countryside, and he was on his way to Turkey for work due to the bad living conditions,” the sources added.
On March 4, the Turkish gendarmerie shot the 12-year-old Ahmad al-Abd to death while playing in front of his house in al-Madlousa village, west of Salqin town on the Turkish border.
On February 12, a child was killed near the village of Adnaniyah, after Turkish gendarmerie shot him to death while he was working with his grandfather in the farm.
Also, on February 4, a young man from the western countryside of Idlib was shot dead by the Turkish gendarmerie while attempting to reach Turkey.
“The Turkish gendarmerie deliberately fire at civilians who try to cross the Syrian-Turkish border,” an activist had previously told North Press.
Dozens of civilians are arrested every day and cruelly tortured, in addition to being detained for long hours, according to the activists.
