38 violations committed against women in Syria’s northeast: human rights organization

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday, the Human Rights Organization in the Jazira region issued a statistic on violations committed against women in January and February 2021, in the Autonomous Administration-held areas, northeast Syria.

The organization recorded about 38 violations against women’s rights during the past two months.

At the end of 2020, the Public Justice Council in northeast Syria issued an annual statistic on crimes committed against women in the AANES-held areas in 2020, which included 1,590 crimes.

The organization recorded six suicides, two of which were minors, and the injury of a woman as a result of an explosion.

Six cases of killing and one injury were also recorded in criminal offences, and seven cases of kidnapping were recorded in the city of Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain), which is under the control of the Turkish forces.

In its statement, the organization added that one woman was injured as a result of bombing by the Turkish forces and the Turkish-backed armed groups, in addition to ten killings, including three minors, in Hawl Camp, east of Hasakah.

The organization monitored two rape cases, one of them was of a child, and four cases of murder by ISIS.
