HTS preparing false flag chemical attack in Syria’s Idlib: Russian Defense
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Russian Ministry of Defense claimed in a statement on Monday that Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, formerly al-Nusra Front) could carry out a false flag chemical attack in northwest Syria’s de-escalation zone.
Marine Major General Alexander Grynkiewicz, deputy head of the Russian Reconciliation Center for Syria, stated that there is information about plans for a false flag chemical attack by HTS militants within the de-escalation zone.
Grynkiewicz alleged that HTS is preparing false flag chemical attack at a facility in the village of Kabanah that was established for this purpose.
“The aim is to accuse the Syrian government forces of using chemical weapons against civilians, since residents of Idlib would be included to present them as victims and injured,” Grynkiewicz added.
Earlier this year, the Russian Reconciliation Center for Syria mentioned it has received information indicating that Turkish-backed armed opposition groups in Idlib are preparing to launch false flag military operations targeting residential areas in Idlib and accuse Syrian government forces of perpetrating the attacks. On February 25, the Russian Reconciliation Center for Syria said it managed to document 35 bombing operations carried out earlier by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) within the de-escalation zone in Idlib, northwest Syria
