Iraqi refugee shot to death in Syria’s Hawl Camp

HASAKA, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday, the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) found the body of an Iraqi refugee who was shot to death by unidentified persons in Hawl camp, east of Syria’s Hasakah.

“The Iraqi refugee, Ahmad Ali Jassim, 18, was shot in the head, chest and abdomen in the first sector of the camp on Wednesday at dawn,” a security source in the camp told North Press.

This is the third incident of its kind since the beginning of March, after the killing of two Iraqi refugees in the last couple of days.

Despite the departure of batches of IDPs from the camp and the transfer of others, who are under threat to other camps, the administration of the camp is concerned that “the situation will get worse.”

In light of the continuing assassinations inside the camp, as it has been witnessing almost daily killings, mostly Iraqi refugees, the Iraqi government still refuses to repatriate its citizens due to their “dangerousness.”
