SDC to announce new memorandum of understanding with Syrian opposition party

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday, Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) Official Sihanouk Dibo said that they will announce a new memorandum of understanding with a Syrian opposition party within a few days.

Sihanouk Dibo, the SDC representative in Egypt, added that they are in an ongoing dialogue with the party to announce a memorandum of understanding, without revealing additional details.

The unnamed party is a Syrian opposition party that has role and influence, according to Dibo.

Ilham Ahmed, the chair of the SDC’s Executive Board, said during a statement for SDC’s website that they aim to conduct a joint project with the Syrian opposition and with all parties to the Syrian solution, without revealing other details.

In August, SDC and the internal opposition’s People’s Will Party announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding with provisions related to the political roadmap to resolve the Syrian crisis in accordance with UN Resolution 2254 and the drafting of the Syrian constitution.

Dibo said that it is necessary to gather the Syrian opposition parties together, and that the existence of a democratic national opposition, with clear formulas and a clear political program “is not only useful in solving the Syrian crisis, but rather provides a solution for all the countries involved in the Syrian crisis or in the Syrian issue.”

He added that the stalemate will continue, and will deteriorate into a more complex stage, as long as the SDC is outside it, and that many Syrian forces, personalities and national parties agree on this matter.

He pointed out that the delegations of European countries visiting northeastern Syria have confirmed to Autonomous Administration officials that the participation of the SDC in the Syrian political process is a matter of time and no more.

Fener al-Ka’t, Deputy Co-chair of the Department of Foreign Relations of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) said in a previous interview with North Press that the area is witnessing great open diplomacy by several countries due to their “exemplary experience” in achieving security and stability.
