Unknown persons burn Kobani’s Christmas tree
KOBANI, Syria (North Press) – People of Syria’s northern city of Kobani woke up on Saturday to find out that the newly made Christmas tree in the city center was burned by unknown people.
The People’s Municipality in Kobani said, on Saturday, that unknown persons burned a Christmas tree in the public square in the city center.
The People’s Municipality in Kobani had recently finished preparing the Christmas tree in the public square in the city center opposite the General Administration of the Environment.
Roshin Abdi, co-chair of Kobani municipality, told North Press that the project, which was carried out by the municipality’s women’s office as a gift for Kobani’s children, had been completed during the past days.
Abdi indicated that the tree was burned at night, and that the Internal Security Forces [Asayish] started investigating immediately to find out the perpetrators.
She promised people of Kobani to fix the tree again and the people will gather again around it, mentioning that repairing the tree will be done this night.
The Information Office of Asayish in the Euphrates region, told North Press, “Investigations are underway to find out the conditions of the incident through surveillance cameras.”
The office added that the Asayish will announce the results of their investigations as soon as it is completed and the perpetrators are known.
