Kurdish Red Crescent in northern Syria calls for volunteers as coronavirus infections increase

HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday, the Kurdish Red Crescent (KRC) in the Autonomous Administration in North and East Syria (AANES) announced its need for volunteers to work at the COVID-19 Hospital in the city of Hasakah, after the increase in the number of coronavirus infections in northeastern Syria.

On April 20, the Kurdish Red Crescent a new hospital named “COVID-19” to receive new cases of coronavirus infections in the western countryside of the city of Hasakah.

The organization published on its Facebook page that more volunteers are needed to work at the COVID-19 Hospital in Hasakah, to provide medical, psychological, or physical care for patients.

Last week, the Autonomous Administration imposed a complete lockdown on the cities of Kobani and Derik after the recent high number of infections and deaths of coronavirus.

KRC indicated that the volunteers may undergo training in order to maintain their safety and that the work will be under the supervision of specialized doctors and nurses, adding that it is possible to apply for volunteering via the emergency center of the Kurdish Red Crescent in the Tel Hajar neighborhood of Hasakah city in the morning.

The Health Board of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) announced the recording of 111 new coronavirus infections and five deaths in its areas on Monday. 

According to the new the statistics on new cases of coronavirus in the Autonomous Administration regions, the number of infections has risen to 6,230, of which 163 have died and 888 recovered.
