Intra-Kurdish dialogue suspended due to American guarantor absence, Kurdish politician
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Muhammad Mousa, Secretary General of the Kurdish Left Party in Syria, said on Saturday, that intra-Kurdish dialogue did not stop, but it was suspended due to the absence of the US guarantor.
The statements came after media outlets close to the Syrian opposition reported what they described as “the failure of the negotiations.”
Mousa said that the problem of the Kurdish National Council in Syria (ENKS) regarding their join to the Autonomous Administration is being discussed in the negotiations.
“The mechanism for joining ENKS to the Autonomous Administration is not clear yet,” he added.
Zahra Bell, the US representative to northeastern who sponsors the dialogue, traveled to the United States because of the presidential elections, Mousa said in an exclusive statement to North Press.
Bell is sponsoring intra-Kurdish dialogue amid talks of a change in her position.
“The Kurdish unity is a strategic, national and continuing principle in this context,” said Aldar Khalil, member of the Executive Committee of the Movement for a Democratic Society (TEV-DEM) in north and east Syria.
In a post on Facebook, Khalil added: “Unfortunately, there are those who are mobilizing in the media about what they call the failure of the intra-Kurdish dialogue.”
The intra-Kurdish dialogue, started with the initiative launched by SDF Commander-in-Chief Mazloum Abdi.
Both the Kurdish National Unity Parties and ENKS have reached preliminary understandings about forming a unified position for the Kurds of Syria consisting of 40 members, where each bloc will have 40% representation.
The remaining 20% will be represented by independent figures and members of civil society organizations, according to the understanding.
