Colonel Wayne Marotto to serve as new Global Coalition spokesperson

HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – In his final press conference with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Global Coalition Spokesperson Colonel Myles B. Caggins announced that he would end his mission as spokesperson for the Coalition. “My replacement, Colonel Wayne is on a plane to Erbil today. And I will encourage him to visit northeast Syria soon,” Caggins stated during the conference.

In the conference, Caggins affirmed that “The Coalition is involved in training programs from anti-terror troops, those troops have decimated ISIS leaders in the past few months. And we’re supporting the SDF as they keep pressure on ISIS.”

In his closing comments, Caggins said, “Representing the Coalition has been the most rewarding experience of my career. You have welcomed me as your ‘guest.’ I am forever thankful.”

The incoming spokesperson appeared in a Twitter video posted to Kurdish news agency Rudaw’s page on September 8, greeting the “people of Kurdistan” in the Kurdish language, and previously appeared on the Twitter page of Dutch journalist Wladimir van Wilgenburg, with a photo of the two allegedly taken in the city of Erbil in Iraq’s Kurdistan region.

Col. Marotto appears to have a long military record, having served in Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation New Dawn in Kuwait, and Operation Inherent Resolve. The colonel formerly served as the Public Affairs Officer for US Army Central Command.
