Israeli security concerns over an Iranian threat in Syria’s Al-Bukamal

The West Bank – North-Press Agency

An informed Israeli source has told North-Press that the Israeli security concerns have increased in the last period of three months after Tel Aviv had informed Russia and the United States about information regarding intentions of the Iranian forces and its allied groups to launch an attack against the United States and the Israeli forces, considering the Syrian eastern area of Al-Bukamal as a start point, near the Syrian-Iraqi borders.

According to the source, this is considered as part of the Israeli exaggeration in its security fears as a “proactive” for “post-victory level of the Syrian government forces”, to extend its control over the entire Syrian territories.

The transport of missiles
According to Israel’s strategic centers, Iran had transferred missiles from Al-Bukamal to the western territories of Iraq by the pro-Iranian militias of the Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) and had directed these missiles or tended to direct them towards Israel.

This comes in the context of Iran’s search for means to put pressure on the United States amidst the growing tension between them recently, as the Iranian threat came to be a preparation for all possibilities in case of the outbreak of a comprehensive war if Iran is willing otherwise.

Israel is targeted
According to Israeli estimates, the pro-Iranian Shiite militias of the Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) in Iraq have got missiles with a range of 700-1000 km, and in fact that it covers all of Israel in case if installed in western Iraq, in addition of being precision rockets, and its preparation duration is relatively short, unlike the launched missiles by former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein in 1991.

Moreover, North-Press has learned that Israeli fears of Iranian threats emanating from Al-Bukamal, were discussed through a phone call between the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday.

As the call came two weeks after the tripartite security meeting in Jerusalem with the participation of Israeli, Russian and US national security advisers.
