Erdogan threatens Europe of the consequences of Libya hours before Berlin conference

Turkish President Erdogan has warned European countries of new problems and threats in the event of formation of what he described as the legitimate government in Libya, which means the Government of National Accord (GNA), hours before the planned conference in the German capital, Berlin.

"We will train the Libyan security forces and contribute to their fight against terrorism and human trafficking," Erdogan added in an article for the European newspaper, "Politico", noting that "Europe must show the world that it is has an important role on the international stage."

The Turkish president also considered that "the road leading to peace in Libya passes through Turkey," as he said, adding that "leaving Libya at the mercy of warlords is a historic mistake," and added that "Europe will face new problems and threats if the legitimate government is toppled in Libya. "

Moreover, the threats of Turkish President Erdogan come a day before the international conference on Libya, as the international conference is scheduled to be held in Berlin next Sunday, to discuss the situation in Libya.

Furthermore, the United States, Russia, France, Britain, China, Germany, Turkey, Italy, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Algeria and the Congo are participating in the conference, in addition to a number of effective international organizations.

The presidency of the Libyan Government of National Accord (Al-Wefaq), has announced that its president Fayez al-Sarraj, would participate in the international conference. His opponent, Khalifa Haftar, also expressed his willingness to participate, while Tunisia, Qatar, Greece and Morocco were not invited, despite their interest in the Libyan file.

A ceasefire had been reached at the initiative of Russia and Turkey, as the government  of National Accord agreed on its terms on Monday, but Haftar refused to sign it.
