In the early hours of today’s morning, the Russian fighter jets carried out airstrikes on southern Idlib causing new casualties in the region as a result of the renewed escalation.
As the town of Khan Shaykhun was targeted by many rockets by Russian fighter jets, killing at least 8 people, including three children and two women, and injuring others with varying degrees of severity.
On the other hand, the area of Kafr Ein in the southern countryside of Idlib had witnessed airstrikes during last night hours, coincided with ground shelling by the Syrian government forces on areas of Al-Arbaeen village in the northern countryside of Hama.
While Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (formerly Al-Nusra Front) had launched a sudden attack led by Abu Yaqzan al-Masri on Kafrhood area in the northwestern countryside of Hama, following violent clashes with the Syrian government forces which took place amid mutual heavy shelling between the two sides.
Furthermore, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham targeted the positions of the Syrian government forces in al-Bahsa area of Al-Ghab plain in the northwest countryside of Hama, causing material damage, amid information about casualties in the governmental forces.
On Friday, the head of the Russian Reconciliation Center in Syria accused “Militants inside the de-escalation zones in northwestern Syria” of attempting to attack the Hmeimim Air Base in the countryside of Latakia by drones, which is the main Russian military base in Syria.
On the other hand, a meeting was held between the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and a Russian delegation led by Alexander Lavrentiev, and the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin.
The meeting discussed the recent developments of the political process in the formation of the Constitutional Committee, the situation in the de-escalation zones in northwestern Syria and the military campaign in the region, as well as the regional and international developments regarding the Syrian crisis.
The Russian delegation’s visit was followed by a previous visit to Ankara, as they met with Turkish officials, including the spokesman of the Turkish presidency Ibrahim Kalin last Thursday.
