Armed opposition groups have launched an attack on the government forces’ positions, killing a score of them in the city of Maarat al-Numan, while Syrian government forces continue targeting the rebel groups in the southern Aleppo countryside.

The Head of the Russian Center for Reconciliation in Syria, Major General Alexey Bakken has announced on Friday that 10 Syrian soldiers were killed and 21 others were injured while repelling the armed opposition groups’ attack in the village of Abu-Dali in Maarat al-Numan in the southern Idlib countryside.

Maj. Gen. Bakken said: “As a result of the shelling and repelling the terrorist attack, 10 Syrian soldiers were killed and 21 were injured, the government forces were able to repel the terrorists’ attack and carry out a counter-attack that led to their retreat to areas previously under their control.”

On a related context, the Syrian fighter jets had launched air raids yesterday evening on the village of al-Bawabiya in the southwestern countryside of Aleppo, with explosive rockets, causing great destruction of residential buildings and injuring eight civilians, most of them children.
The village is being targeted almost on a daily basis by aerial and artillery shelling.
Mohammed Samaa, a local resident told North-Press that the village does not contain any military points as well as it’s far from the lines of engagement.

The bombardment on the village resulted in the injury and death of some villagers, as well as the displacement of dozens of families.
