Syrian government fighter jets targeted the outskirts of al-Bawabiya town in southern Aleppo countryside with a number of airstrikes, without causing any casualties, and the damage was limited to the material, North-Press correspondent reported.

As the area is subjected to aerial and artillery bombardment almost every day, by the Syrian and Russian forces which caused deaths and injuries among civilians in addition to the destruction of their houses.

The shelling coincided with Syrian government forces taking control of the strategic town of al-Habeet in Idlib, after the resumption of clashes, achieving a military advance that is considered the most important since the beginning of the military campaign three months ago.

Furthermore, Idlib ceasefire, which was approved at last week of Astana talks, lasted only three days, after which Russian-backed government forces resumed their military operations in the governorate of Idlib.

Moreover, the Syrian government shelling of al-Bawabiya town in southern Aleppo countryside led to “the displacement of the local residents,” according to the local council, that has declared the town as “devastated, with a severe shortage of medical and humanitarian supplies.”

The Syrian government forces seek to re-establish control over Idlib governorate since the end of last April, while the opposition militants are still stationed in the northwest enclave of the country, which includes most of the governorate of Idlib, and parts of Aleppo, Hama, and Latakia governorates.

The Syrian government forces have recently intensified their offensive towards Idlib and the northern parts of Hama governorate, under the cover of airstrikes and artillery shelling.
