Since 2012, the Syrian government forces take full control over the strategic M5 highway

The Syrian government forces today on Tuesday have taken control over the entire Damascus-Aleppo M5 highway, since the Syrian army had lost the control back in 2012 with the beginning of the Syrian conflict. Amid ongoing military advance in the de-escalation zones.

 

After talking control of the fourth Al-Rashideen area on the western outskirts of the city of Aleppo, the Syrian government forces announced their full control over the strategic M5 highway, that extends from Aleppo till to capital, Damascus.

 

The Syrian government forces, along with the support of the heavy Russian aerial bombardment, have regained the control over the areas of Kafr Nouran, Kafr Halab, al-Qanatri and Khirbet Jazraya in the western countryside of Aleppo, amid continued attempts to advance towards Maarat al-Naasan in the north-eastern countryside of Idlib.

 

As the Syrian government artillery targeted yesterday evening a large Turkish military convoy, consisting of several armored vehicles in the town of al-Atareb in the western countryside of Aleppo, which led to several injuries among the Turkish military.

 

While the Russian Ministry of Defense announced yesterday that the Russian air defense systems shot down two military drones, which were launched by the armed opposition groups over the Russian Hmeimim Air-base in Latakia countryside, as according to what the Syrian official news agency "SANA" reported.

 

 On the other hand, the armed opposition groups detonated a car bomb in a position of the Syrian government forces present in the area of Miznaz in the western countryside of Aleppo, killing seven members of the Syrian army and wounding others.

 

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, 700 thousands people have been displaced during the past 70 days, due the ongoing military escalation in the governorates of Aleppo and Idlib, in north-west of Syria.
