Joint Russian-Turkish patrol in western countryside of Kobani

On Monday, Russian military police conducted a joint patrol with Turkish forces in the western countryside of Kobani, which is the 14th joint patrol between the two sides in the region since the Putin-Erdogan agreement in August of last year, and the second since the imposition of the quarantine in the Euphrates region on March 23rd.

The patrol, consisting of eight Russian and Turkish military vehicles accompanied by two Russian helicopters, began from the village of Ashma 20km west of Kobani, and traveled to the villages of Jariqli, Jebna, Gatash, Jeb al-Faraj, Derbazin, Pendir, Qaraqoy Tahtani, Qula, and Susan, finally reaching the Internal Security Forces' checkpoint in the Iza’a area west of Kobani.

After that, the patrol returned to its starting point in the village of Ashma, passing through the villages of Siftek, Boban, Khorkhori, Dikemdash, Qeran and Jariqli.

The Turkish military vehicles entered from the gate near the village of Ashma, while the Russian military vehicles returned to their center in the Iza'a area west of Kobani.

The Russian and Turkish forces conducted the 13th  joint patrol in the eastern countryside of Kobani on the 23rd of March, starting from the village of Gharib 15km east of Kobani, in conjunction with the start of the lockdown in the Euphrates region due to the new coronavirus epidemic.
