Russian Reconciliation Center denies bombing by Turkish-backed groups in Syria’s Idlib

On Thursday, the Russian Reconciliation Center in Syria denied any bombing operations in the de-escalation zones in the Idlib province by Turkish-backed armed opposition groups during the past 24 hours.

The commander of the Russian Reconciliation Center in Syria, Admiral Oleg Vladimirovich Zhuravlyov, told Russian media that the permanent communication channel between the Russian center and Turkey "included continuous operational communication between the military of the two sides."

Admiral Zhuravlyov added that "Russian military police continue their patrols in the Syrian governorates of Aleppo and Hasakah. During the last 24 hours, Russian warplanes carried out an air patrol in the course of the Kuweires Airbase, the Mitras Airbase (former U.S.-led Coalition base in southern Kobani), Khanik Fawkani, Ain Issa, al-Mazraa, and Bir Hamid."

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Erdogan met on March 5th in Moscow and reached understandings to end the crisis in the de-escalation zones in northwestern Syria, in the midst of a series of clashes between Syrian government forces and Turkish forces.
