On Monday midnight, Turkish-backed armed opposition groups bombed villages in the countryside of Tel Tamr, north of Hasakah, burning agricultural land.

A local source told North-Press that Turkish-backed armed opposition groups shelled villages of Abush, Qaber al-Saghir and al-Mesalta north of Tel Tamr, targeting Syrian government points deployed along the front lines with them.

The shelling burned dozens of acres of agricultural lands cultivated with wheat and barley, and firefighting teams were unable to reach them because they were targeted by Turkish-backed armed opposition groups, according to a source.

The source said that most of the agricultural lands under the control of the armed opposition groups and on front lines with the Syrian government in the countryside of Tel Tamr have burned without deterring the practices of these armed groups against the people of the region.

On the 28th of May, two civilians from the village of al-Asadiya near the town of Zarkan lost their lives while trying to put out fires caused by Turkish-backed armed opposition groups in agricultural fields.

Since the start of the harvest season, fires burned vast swaths of crops in northeastern Syria, and residents accused Turkish-backed opposition groups of setting fire to agricultural fields under their control or those close to the front lines with Syrian government forces.
