Residents of Derik countryside protest against conducting a Russian patrol – North Press

DERIK – Syria (North Press) – Villagers in the countryside of the city of Derik, northeastern Syria, protested against the conduct of a patrol by Russian military police on the border which went from the city of Qamishli to the north of Derik on Tuesday. 

 

Said Rasoul, from the village of Ain Diwar, told North Press that they refuse to allow Russian forces to stay or establish a point in their village. 

 

A security source in the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) told North Press that the patrol came out of the city of Qamishli, took the border road heading east, reaching Derik. He pointed out that the Russian police did not establish any point in the area.

 

This coincided with the arrival of a US patrol, which consisted of three armored vehicles at the northern entrance to the city. They were awaiting the arrival of the Russian patrol.

 

The source indicated that Russian forces conducted three patrols in the past ten days, while US forces conducted five patrols in Derik.
