Turkish forces establish two new checkpoints in Syria’s Idlib amid Russian airstrikes

Turkish forces established two new check points in the de-escalation zone, bringing the total to 43, amid Russian aircraft bombing of al-Ghab Plain in northwest Syria.

Several armored vehicles were stationed near the village of Qiyasat on the M4 highway, and military vehicles were stationed in the driving school near the town of Bansqoul, 28 km southwest of Idlib, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

According to reports, the number of Turkish check points in Idlib and its outskirts, and some areas of the Aleppo countryside, has reached 43 since the end of February.

A military source said to North Press that the Russian Air Force targeted the Sarmaniya area in al-Ghab Plain in the northwestern Hama countryside, without information about any damage in the area.

Meanwhile, Syrian government forces ’artillery targeted sites of Turkish-backed armed opposition groups in the villages of Qoufqin and al-Haluba in the Zawiya Mountain area.
