Manbij Military Council spokesman Shervan Darwish survives assassination attempt

MANBIJ, Syria (North Press) – Manbij Military Council spokesman Shervan Darwish survived a new assassination attempt on Wednesday in an area between the city of Manbij and the Tishreen Dam in the eastern Aleppo countryside, resulting in material damage.

A source from the Manbij Military Council (MMC) told North Press the assassination attempt occurred this morning when Darwish was on the way back from an administrative mission accompanied by leaders of the Military Council.

The source added that an IED planted on the road exploded, causing only material damage.

The Manbij Military Council has not issued any explanation or information regarding the incident, yet.

Darwish was subjected to another assassination attempt last year when he was shot by gunmen. Manbij Military Council revealed the results of the investigations into the incident, saying that the group carrying out the operation was affiliated with Turkish-backed armed opposition groups, and they were arrested in the city's countryside.
