Al-Shaibani says Arab rights in Golan remain non-negotiable
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani said on Monday that Syria reaffirms that Arab rights in the occupied Golan are non-negotiable.
Speaking at a meeting of Arab foreign ministers during the 166th session of the Arab League at the ministerial level, al-Shaibani said Syria remains committed to a diplomatic solution and is working to end Israeli attacks, arrests and incursions.
“Syria has returned to its place, with its people as a shoulder and support, not a burden,” al-Shaibani said, adding that social wounds caused by the former government are being addressed through justice and reconciliation.
“We have unified the country, integrated armed factions and rebuilt our national army based on restricting weapons to state institutions,” he said.
Al-Shaibani said Syrians had achieved “pivotal milestones” over 20 months that once appeared impossible, adding that national security and defense institutions had been restructured to protect the borders and safeguard sovereignty.
He also said hundreds of thousands of Syrian children and young people had been brought back from camps to schools and universities.
“We are steadily implementing the three-way roadmap we worked on with Jordan to establish peace in Suwayda,” al-Shaibani said, adding that Syria is working to ensure Suwayda’s “dignified integration into its national fabric.”
Al-Shaibani welcomed the Arab League’s condemnation of Colombia’s decision to recognize the annexation of the Golan by Israel.
